Moldovan parliament speaker meets Ambassador of Sweden

Chisinau, 15 February /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu today had a meeting with Ambassador of Sweden to Moldova Katarina Fried. The officials discussed the bilateral cooperation and possibilities of boosting the inter-parliamentary dialogue, the parliament’s communication and public relations general department has reported.
Igor Grosu thanked for the technical and financial assistance provided by Swedish partners in diverse sectors.
The parliament speaker emphasized the support provided to Moldova’s parliament for the implementation of the e-parliament system, especially the electronic voting system. ‘’We highly appreciate this assistance, which helped us get the electronic voting and to thus enhance the degree of transparency in the legislative activity,’’ Speaker Igor Grosu said.
At the same time, the parliament speaker thanked the Swedish nation for the help provided to Moldova during time.
„I express gratitude for the technical and financial assistance provided by the Swedish state to Moldova, which includes important projects, such as the setting up of the first Centre of Excellence in the Information Technology and Communications sector Tekwill from Chisinau, the StartUp City centre of excellence in IT from Cahul, the e-Parliament system, the medicine field and, not in the least, assistance on the pandemic period. At the same time, we would like to foster the cooperation in such sectors as digitalization and environmental projects,’’ Igor Grosu noted.
The sides also discussed the situation in the region. The parliament speaker reiterated that Moldova kept a close eye on the situation and the zero priority for the state Moldova is the citizens’ life and safety.
Also, the officials discussed the visit planned to be paid by Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu to Sweden, at an invitation by his Swedish counterpart Andreas Norlén.
