Moldovan foreign affairs minister has meeting with secretary general of Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization

Chisinau, 16 February /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu has had a meeting with Secretary General of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC), Ambassador Lazar Comanescu.
According to the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service, the meeting was a good occasion for the officials to discuss the calendar of the major events planned during the mandate of Moldova’s Chairmanship-in-Office of BSEC on the period January-2022, especially for marking the 30th anniversary of the organization’s foundation.
„Moldova, in its capacity of the Organization’s founding state, participates in all activities carried out within the Organization and the taking over of BSEC’s Chairmanship represents for Moldova both an honour and a great responsibility,’’ Minister Nicu Popescu said.
An important subject of the discussion referred to the revival of the Organization’s economic dimension through the boosting and full involvement of the business communities from the member states. At the same time, the interlocutors stressed the importance of development of BSEC’s interaction with observers, sectoral dialogue partners and subsidiary institutions, taking into account both the enhancement of the Organization’s visibility and the support of the efforts of the business communities of the BSEC member states through the goal of strengthening the entrepreneurial dimension.
„I also spoke out for a closer cooperation between BSEC and EU through the promotion and facilitating the joint initiatives for the sustainable development of the Black Sea region,’’ Deputy PM Nicu Popescu noted.
Secretary General Lazar Comanescu is on a working visit to Chisinau for general coordination as to Moldova’s Chairmanship at BSEC. At the visit, the official has scheduled meetings with the Moldovan PM, the head of the parliamentary delegation to the BSEC Parliamentary Assembly, as well as Moldova’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
