Martisor Interational Music Festival, 56th issue, Martisor Fair to be held in Moldova

Chisinau, 16 February /MOLDPRES/ - The 56th issue of the Martisor International Music Festival will be held in Chisinau and all over Moldova on 1-10 March. The Martisor Fair will be inaugurated in the area adjacent to the Nicolae Sulac National Palace on the Dragobete holiday, 24 February, for the first time ever.
At a today’s news conference, Culture Minister Sergiu Prodan said that, taking into account that the Martisor had been introduced in the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2017, he has recently discussed with Romanian Culture Minister Lucian Damascanu and ruled to organize a Martisor festival along with Romania starting the next year. ‘’This festival must have a larger and larger scope and a bright future. Another important idea is the one of holding a fair of Martisor in the area adjacent to the Nicolae Sulac National Palace. Within the festival, 19 concerts will take place in Chisinau and 10 – in other settlements of Moldova,’’ the official stressed.
For his part, the direct of the Concert and Impresario Organization, Moldova Concert, Andrei Locoman, said the Martisor International Music Festival would be opened with a concert titled, 85 Springs, held on the occasion of the 85th birthday anniversary of composer Eugen Doga, at the headquarters of the Nicolae Sulac National Palace on 1 March at 18:00.
The festival’s budget is of 2.35 million lei.
The first issue of the Martisor International Music Festival took place in at the Serghei Lunchevici National Philharmonic from Chisinau in 1966. The institution’s founder is the Philharmonic’s departed director Alexandru Fedco. The festival is meant to make happy the native audience with the presence of famous artists not only from Moldova, but from all over the world, turning Chisinau into a true cultural centre.
