European Commission might provide Moldova with support to implement pre-vetting mechanism

Chisinau, 16 February /MOLDPRES/ - Justice Minister Sergiu Litvinenco today had a discussion with representatives of the development partners. They showed interest in providing Moldova with support in the implementation of the pre-vetting mechanism. It is about the Delegation of the European Union, European Commission, World Bank, United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Embassies of the USA and the Netherlands.
According to the Justice Ministry’s (MJ) press service, in the discussion with the development partners, Sergiu Litvinenco reiterated that MJ was quite interested in the pre-vetting mechanism to be implemented correctly, taking into account also the national situation. ‘’We want the systemic reform underway to achieve its final goal – to have a Superior Council of Magistracy and a Superior Council of Prosecutors with correct, honest people and who will be willing to promote integrity in the justice system. Namely these bodies of self-administration will be the vehicles due to start the cleaning of the justice system of corrupt judges and prosecutors and with integrity problems,’’ Litvinenco said.
For their part, the development partners gave assurances that they would continue providing assistance for the implementation of the pre-vetting, both with professional experts and with financial support.
