Ensuring business-friendly environment - one of Moldovan government's priorities - MP says

Chisinau, 17 Feb. / MOLDPRES /- On a working visit to Ungheni, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița visited the Unicorn Carpets factory and Euro Yarns Ltd, a company specializing in the production of synthetic yarns, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
The official spoke with one of the owners of the two factories about the development prospects of the enterprises, but also about the policies to support the producers. "Ensuring a favorable business environment is one of the Government's priorities. By creating jobs at home, we will be able to ensure economic growth and contribute to improving the living standards of our citizens ", said Natalia Gavrilița.
Unicorn Carpets leader Petru Babenco stressed that state support is very important to be able to compete with producers in other countries. "We make our mark on the market through quality and affordable price and we make every effort to promote the image of the Republic of Moldova at the European level," he said.
Unicorn Carpets Ltd is a Moldovan-Belgian joint venture with 90 employees. About 80% of the company's production is exported to Romania, Ukraine, Germany, Poland and Russia. Some of the raw material needed to make the carpets is imported from Bangladesh, Indonesia. The other part of the raw material used is produced at Euro Yarns, a Belgian-owned factory with 80 employees. Every year, 4 thousand tons of synthetic fibers are produced here, from the raw material imported from Russia, Greece, Israel and the United Arab Emirates. About 60% of the company's production is exported to countries such as Poland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Russia, etc.
