Chisinau, 17 Feb. / MOLDPRES /- The procedure for selecting candidates for the position of member of the Superior Council of Magistracy / CSM / and the Superior Council of Prosecutors / CSP / has been modified. A draft law in this regard was adopted today by the final reading of the deputies.
The changes are aimed at creating a specialized commission to assess the integrity of candidates for administrative positions within the SCM and CSP. Based on the specifics of the Evaluation Committee, as well as the need to exclude any form of control or interference in its work, the Evaluation Committee will have functional independence and administrative autonomy.
The evaluation committee will be made up of six members. Three of them will be appointed by the development partners. The others will be proposed by Parliament, respecting the principle of proportionality between the majority and the opposition, based on the number of seats obtained.
The Commission will assess the integrity of candidates on the basis of extensive research into professional activity, compliance with ethical and professional standards, as well as the lack of dubious actions that lead to suspicions of corruption. The Evaluation Committee will also analyze the assets of the candidates and those close to them, their background, as well as the candidates' income and expenses.
