Yellow Code of strong wind announced in Moldova

Chisinau, 17 February /MOLDPRES/ - The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) has announced Yellow Code of strong wind for 17 and 18 February.

According to meteorologists, gustings of the south-western wind of 15-20 metres/second are expected in the southern region of Moldova today. On 18 February, the north-western wind will gust to 15-20 metres/second.

In these conditions, rescuers recommend avoiding places where there are dry trees or objects posing risk of collapsing or electric wires.

According to weather forecasters, on 18 February, the air temperature will reach +10 Celsius degrees during the day. At night, the air temperature will be 0 degrees. Sleet is expected in the northern region and rains in the centre and south.

In case of Yellow Code, the weather conditions are potentially dangerous; the meteorological phenomena forecast are usual for Moldova’s territory; yet, they may temporarily become dangerous for certain social and economic activities.
