New inspection post of National Food Safety Agency to be opened at Sculeni customs checkpoint of Moldova

Chisinau, 17 February /MOLDPRES/ - A new post of phyto-sanitary and sanitary and veterinary control for agro-food products of animal and non-animal origin will work at the Sculeni border crossing point. The inspection post of the National Food Safety Agency (ANSA), constructed with the World Bank’s support, was opened today, in the presence of Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
„This service is of major importance, as it is about people’s health. If we want to advance on the way of European integration, we must adopt and implement the best European practices, including as regards the control of the quality of foodstuffs and products. We expect qualitative services and impeccable integrity from the new ANSA office,’’ the PM said.
For his part, ANSA director Radu Musteata referred to the advantages of products’ verification at the new post. ‘’We will facilitate the work of economic operators, importers of products, but the most important thing is that we have all conditions needed for carrying out an efficient activity of ensuring food products’ quality,’’ Musteata said.
The ANSA point is endowed with advanced equipment – financial sources worth over 15 million lei were used for finishing the project. The post’s work will allow easing the trafficking of goods subjected to ANSA’s control, at the Inspection Post from the Border. Also, the services provided at the Sculeni border crossing point, the physical controls and collection of samples for laboratory will guarantee the quality and inoffensiveness of products for consumers. Ten ANSA inspectors will make needed controls of goods, in order not to allow the placement of non-conforming products on market.
The ANSA inspection post at the Sculeni border crossing point is part of the network of veterinary and phyto-sanitary control posts. Such posts were built at the Tudora, Criva, Leuseni and Giurgiulesti customs checkpoints.
