Moldovan foreign affairs minister dissusses with state secretary of U.S. North Carolina state

Chisinau, 17 February /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu today had a discussion in videoconference format with the state secretary of the North Carolina state of the United States, Elaine F. Marshall, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.
The interlocutors tackled subjects on the consolidation of the bilateral relations in various sectors of mutual interest, the reviewing of the progress of cooperation within the privileged partnership between Moldova and North Carolina, importance of strengthening the friendship relations and the good cooperation, despite the COVID-19 restrictions.
„Each project, initiative or action for the benefit of the Moldovan-American strategic dialogue contributes to the boosting and consolidation of our friendship relation, edified on the community of values, such as democracy, rule of law state and market economy principles,’’ Deputy PM Nicu Popescu said.
The Moldovan diplomacy head reiterated the special character of the partnership with the North Carolina state and its importance for the strategic dialogue with the USA, concretized through numerous projects, including the renovation and endowment of more education institutions, hospitals and orphanages, partnership programmes: distance learning, stomatology, pharmaceutics, general medical assistance, academic mobility of teachers, students, backing the process of modernization of the medical and teaching equipment, providing of scholarships to young people from disadvantaged families and the providing of medical assistance to children with special needs.
„I thanked Mrs. state secretary of North Carolina Elaine Marshall for her personal contribution, dedication and attachment in ensuring a sustainable and dynamic cooperation, able to consolidate the cultural, academic and economic changes,’’ Minister Nicu Popescu added.
In the end of the discussions, the officials stressed the importance of popular diplomacy, which is at the basis of the initiatives underway for the benefit of the citizens from the two states.
