Chisinau, 18 Feb. / MOLDPRES /- Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA) aims to initiate specific sectoral reforms in order to meet Moldova's commitments to adapt to the effects of climate change, consolidate and restore irrigation systems.
In this regard, the MAIA leadership had a dialogue yesterday with the representatives of the French Development Agency (ADF), in order to examine the eligibility criteria for accessing development funds and technical and financial assistance in the agricultural sector.
The representatives of ADF expressed their openness to strengthen inter-institutional collaboration and mentioned that the support provided will be focused on three components: Reform program and political dialogue on irrigation management; Technical assistance program (grant) that will provide support for the implementation and monitoring of certain reforms in specific areas of intervention; Budget support, with payments conditional on the achievement of the policy matrix indicators.
The Ministry of Agriculture said that the reforms will be designed following the French model and experience, starting from the objective of European integration of the Republic of Moldova and alignment with the values and requirements of the European Union states.
ADF is an organization of the Government of the French Republic that finances sustainable development projects in developing countries, provides financial support in the form of loans, grants or guarantees and provides consulting services, technical assistance, training and studies for public or private entities.
