Moldovan foreign minister has phone conversation with counterpart of Canada

Chisinau, 18 Feb. / MOLDPRES /- Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, held a telephone conversation with Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly.
According to the MAEIE press service, during the discussion, the diplomats referred to topics related to the positive dynamics of cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and Canada, the prospects of strengthening the Moldovan-Canadian bilateral dialogue in various areas of mutual interest, and developments security situation in the Eastern European region.
"Canada is one of the states that consistently supports the process of advancing the reform and modernization agenda of our country, and the community of Moldovan citizens in Canada is an engine of the transfer of good practices, being successfully included in social life and becoming ambassadors of the image of our country in Canadian localities ", Popescu said.
During the talks, the two officials expressed interest in strengthening and enhancing Moldovan-Canadian relations, with concrete steps including advancing the dialogue for the conclusion of a bilateral agreement on social protection for the benefit of the diaspora. This objective is fully in line with the 4D concept of the diplomacy of the Republic of Moldova.
"The 20th anniversary of Moldovan-Canadian diplomatic relations is a good opportunity to expand and deepen the political, trade, economic, cultural, francophone and multilateral cooperation agenda," he said.
At the end of the telephone conversation, Popescu invited counterpart to pay a visit to Chisinau to continue the good bilateral talks.
