Moldovan president refers to authorities' efforts to combat corruption, opportunities of investments in Moldova at Munich Conference

Chisinau, 18 February /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu on these days participates in the Munich Security Conference – a global platform of discussions on subjects of international security, which brings together heads of state and government, opinion leaders and entrepreneurs, the presidential press service has reported.
At a roundtable on migration and international security, the Moldovan head of state referred to the effects of this phenomenon for Moldova and for the region. ‘’So far, the corruption and bad governance have sent away people from Moldova, weakening the state and creating security problems. These problems can be overcome only if the governance works for the citizens and looks for solutions to offer a better living to people from the country and the chance to return home to those who left,’’ the president said.
Also today in Munich, the head of state discussed with a group of foreign investors, interested in the economic opportunities provided by Moldova, at a roundtable hosted by the Angermayer Forum for policies and innovations. ‘’I confirmed to my interlocutors that, after more years of uncertainty, Moldova returned to the way of reforms and is prepared for foreign investments, which will create new jobs and will improve the well-being of our citizens. At the same time, the Chisinau governance wants to become a reliable partner for entrepreneurs, with policies of encouraging and simple and clear rules for the business environment,’’ President Maia Sandu said.
At the Munich Security Conference, the Moldovan president spoke to more European and international officials and experts about the Moldovan authorities’ efforts of combating corruption, noting that this hinders the country’s internal development. In her speech, the head of state touched upon the expectations which Moldova has from the foreign partners in this process. ‘’The other states’ assistance and the contribution of the international organizations of combating the money laundering and organized crime will help us punish the corrupts from Moldova and to cease the illegal flowing out of the state’s wealth to other jurisdictions,’’ President Maia Sandu said.
