Chisinau, 19 Feb. / MOLDPRES /- Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița chaired a meeting of the Commission for Emergencies (CSE), during which it was decided to allocate 292.4 million lei from the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, from the Government Reserve Fund. The financial means will be used to make advance payments to compensate for the difference in price following the increase in regulated prices for the supply of natural gas and the consumption of thermal energy granted to domestic consumers, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection will make the advance payment in the amount of 266,960,000.0 lei to Termoelectrica company and in the amount of 25,385,780.0 lei for CET-Nord of the compensations granted to household consumers for February - March 2022.
According to the provision of CSE, Termoelectrica and CET-Nord will report monthly the amount of actual compensation granted to household consumers, and if the amount of the advance will exceed the amount of compensation granted and reported for February-March 2022, companies will return the balance to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection. If the amount of the advance will be less than the amount of compensation, the difference will be paid by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.
The CSE members decided that the consumers served by the suppliers who were not imposed by the public service obligations and the operators of the closed distribution systems should also benefit from compensations granted by the Government. Also, in the list of beneficiaries will be included household consumers from homes and blocks of flats managed by budgetary institutions, according to the same legal provisions that apply to household consumers from tenants' associations.
Another important decision concerns the prohibition of the application of penalties, interest on arrears and other financial penalties to consumers, in case of non-payment of natural gas consumption within the terms indicated in the contract or in the payment invoice.
Also today, the Commission for Emergencies approved the transfer by the Material Reserves Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to Termoelectrica of the quantity of 16,295 tons of fuel oil granted as humanitarian aid to Moldova by Romania. Termoelectrica will use the stock of fuel oil released as a release, according to Government Decision No282/2021 on the release of fuel oil from state reserves for the production of electricity and heat.
