Chisinau, 21 February / MOLDPRES /- On 24 -26 February 2022, Moldova and Ukraine's power systems will operate together in isolation from other neighboring energy systems.
According to Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spinu, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, the isolated operation during this period aims to demonstrate the ability of the energy system to operate safely, at normal parameters of frequency and voltage, and to react immediately to the variation of these parameters in winter.
"February test represents the first stage of the process of synchronous interconnection of our power systems with the ENTSO-E Continental Europe network, and a similar exercise is planned in summer operation. The tests are part of the action plan described in detail in the Studies on the synchronous interconnection of power systems in Moldova and Ukraine with ENTSO-E recently completed and which demonstrated the technical feasibility of interconnection, "said the official.
The tests involve a series of technical actions: the disconnection of the Burshtyn energy island in western Ukraine from the ENTSO-E continental European network and its synchronization with the unified energy system of Ukraine; disconnecting Ukraine's energy system from the unified energy system of Belarus; disconnecting Ukraine's energy system from the unified energy system of the Russian Federation.
The disconnection from the neighboring energy systems and the subsequent synchronization after the completion of the tests was coordinated between the operators of the adjacent transmission systems, according to the quoted source.
The tests aim at the controlled and gradual disconnection of the generating capacities and of the electric load of consumption and the study of the quality parameters of the electric energy. Ukrainian power plants are participating in technical maneuvers ordered by the NPC Ukrenergo dispatcher. The transmission and system operator Moldelectrica will monitor the quality parameters of electricity in the dispatching area of Moldova.
"Consumers of electricity will continue to consume electricity without interruption. Disconnection from and subsequent synchronization with neighboring energy systems will not be felt at the level of final consumers of electricity. The positive results of the tests will confirm the feasibility of the synchronous interconnection at ENTSO-E within the established term ", summed up Andrei Spinu.
