Chisinau, 21 February /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu today issued a declaration on the security situation in the region, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.
The declaration reads:
„We share the deep concern of the partner countries about the significant worsening of the security situation in Ukraine and at its borders, which endanger the neighbour country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Any threat or use of force, which hits the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, runs counter the fundamental principles of the international law, European security order, laid down in the Helsinki Final Act, Paris Charter and the OSCE’s subsequent declarations.
We notice, at the same time, organized actions of triggering violence, accompanied by a significant enhancement of misinformation and false information, meant to create a state of confusion.
Moldova firmly speaks out for the need of de-escalation of the current tension, through a coordinated effort and through identifying diplomatic solutions. We welcome the Ukrainian authorities’ determination to identify a peaceful way out of the present crisis and we call to calm and settlement of all divergences through dialogue.
At the same time, we reiterate, also on this occasion, full support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, within the borders recognized internationally.’’
