Chisinau, Feb. 22 / MOLDPRES /- The Ministry of Environment has warned economic operators involved in waste transfer to act in accordance with the waste management permits issued by the Environment Agency.

Also, the Customs Service was notified by the Ministry of Environment about the need to intensify controls, taking into account the condition of the existence of the waste management authorization for economic agents, which carries out such an operation on the territory of the Republic of Moldova.

"We warn that the ban on the import of ferrous metal waste from the European Union has not been lifted for the Republic of Moldova. The economic agents registered in our country, which have a waste management authorization, have the possibility to collect, transport, capitalize and dispose of the waste. Those who do not hold such authorizations are sanctioned by law by the law and the environment. At the same time, we specify that the import ban refers to waste ferrous and non-ferrous metals, not to the raw material, which is not even the object of the environmental permit ", indicates the ministry.

According to the institution, Moldova can achieve the goal of Zero Waste, a priority for the Ministry of Environment, "even if it is necessary to impose more demanding rules, which are currently being worked on, including by changing the regulatory framework."
