Former MAI state secretary suspected of illicit enrichment

Chisinau, Feb. 22 / MOLDPRES /- Anti-corruption prosecutors and SPIA officers conducted today searches to former Secretary of State of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The prosecution took place in a criminal case, based on the fact of illicit enrichment and false statements.

According to the PA data, following the control performed by the National Integrity Authority, a substantial difference was found between the acquired wealth and the income obtained by the former state dignitary, in a total amount of over one million lei.

In fact, the difference was revealed for 2016-2021, when the former dignitary held several public positions with special status in the Ministry of Defense, as well as the position of Secretary of State of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in November 2019 - June 2021.

The difference was revealed as a result of some patrimonial changes for 2020, when the former dignitary bought two real estates, a house under construction located in Chisinau and a house in Ialoveni.

During today's searches, documents and other objects that are important for the criminal case were found and seized.
