International experts to facilitate Moldovan farmers' access to technological progress

Chisinau, Feb. 22 / MOLDPRES /- Representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA) together with those of the Agency for Agricultural Development and Modernization (ADMA), had a round of talks yesterday with international experts, in order to accelerate the implementation and development of digital technologies in agriculture. The parties explored existing mechanisms to improve the productivity and competitiveness of agro-industrial enterprises, increase climate resilience and sustainability in agriculture.
"Our priority is to support farmers in acquiring and implementing the technologies of the future through eligible digital solutions in agriculture. Thanks to the studies launched under the Future Technologies Project (FTA) funded by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Government of Sweden, we will formulate an updated vision in the field and identify optimal solutions for the benefit of citizens, from the perspective of digitization, " Minister of Agriculture Viorel Gherciu said.
In turn, ADMA plans to launch a new loan program, additionally supported by technical assistance, mentoring and consulting services, as well as grants, so that Moldovan agri-food enterprises can acquire and implement advanced technologies in the agricultural sector.
To this end, ADMA and the FTA Project are working together to develop a framework for the adoption of digital and advanced technologies in the value chains of agriculture in the Republic of Moldova. This Strategic Framework for Digital Transformation in Agriculture and its roadmap will be implemented through ADMA programs, as well as with the support of other responsible partners and institutions.
The Future Technologies Project (FTA), funded by USAID and the Government of Sweden, aims to increase the competitiveness and integration of strategic industries in Moldova into the global market; creating a digital skills workforce, ready for the future and adaptable, strengthening the link between education and the private sector; stimulating businesses to adopt technologies that increase productivity and implement the innovations that underpin the digital economy, values fi when creativity, knowledge and technology for sustainable growth. The FTA helps companies make the transition to circular and sustainable business models and apply green practices and technologies in order to build a robust economy and society in Moldova.
