Moldovan parliament speaker has meeting with counterpart from Azerbaijan in Baku

Chisinau, 22 February /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu has had a meeting with Speaker of the Parliament (Milli Majlis) of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova in Baku, the parliament’s communication and public relations department reported.
The officials discussed possibilities of boosting the development of the bilateral relations between Moldova and Azerbaijan, including at the parliamentary and governmental levels.
”This year, we mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Moldova and Azerbaijan and their dynamic is positive. We started both countries from the same point; we have many things in common and even if we are far from each other geographically, we believe that we can be closer. In all these years, our countries have mutually supported the sovereignty and territorial integrity within the borders recognized internationally. We are members of the Eastern Partnership and we face the same security and economic development challenges,’’ Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu said.
Also, the Moldovan parliament speaker and his Azeri counterpart discussed the importance of the interaction within international and regional organizations. Grosu reiterated that Azerbaijan was a reliable partner of Moldova. In the context, Igor Grosu invited the parliament speaker of Azerbaijan to pay an official visit to Moldova.
On 21-23 February, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu pays an official visit to Azerbaijan, at an invitation by his Azeri counterpart. The parliament’s delegation also includes MP, member of the group of friendship with Azerbaijan Vitalie Jacot. The visit’s agenda comprises meetings with Parliament Speaker Sahiba Gafarova, Azeri PM Ali Asadov and a meeting with representatives of the Moldovan Diaspora from Azerbaijan.
