Moldovan parliament speaker meets Azeri PM

Chisinau, 22 February /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu today had a meeting with Prime Minister Ali Asadov, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The officials discussed the consolidation of the Moldovan-Azeri relations, especially in the economic, commercial, tourist, and investment sectors.
Igor Grosu stressed that the Moldovan authorities were determined to ensure a friendly investment climate in Moldova, with equal rules of game, fair competition, so that business people can invest in Moldova.
”We will create well-paid jobs only in this way,’’ the speaker noted.
Also, Igor Grosu and Ali Asadov discussed the boosting of the Moldovan-Azeri relations at the level of inter-governmental commissions, which will allow turning to good account subsequent opportunities for the benefit of the business people from both states. Presently, there are 113 enterprises with Azeri capital in Moldova.
The parliament speaker thanked for the Baku government’s decision from 15 February to lift the restrictions concerning the pandemic and that Moldova should be included in the list of states whose citizens can travel to Azerbaijan by air without preliminary agreement from local authorities.
An important subject on the agenda of discussions was the energy crisis. The sides emphasized the strategic importance of the southern corridor of gas for the diversification of sources and the networks of import of natural gas. The Infrastructure and Regional Development Ministry of Moldova works to ensure the energy security of the country, through projects for future.
”We will look for solutions, so that Moldova’s citizens overcome this difficult period well,’’ the speaker added.
On 21-23 February, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu pays an official visit to Azerbaijan, at an invitation by his Azeri counterpart Sahiba Gafarova. The parliament’s delegation also includes MP, member of the group of friendship with Azerbaijan Vitalie Jacot.
