Chisinau local authorities to study experience of Iasi municipality in waste management

Chisinau, Feb. 23 / MOLDPRES /- Representatives of Chisinau municipality will study the experience of Iasi municipality in household waste management.
A delegation of the Chisinau municipality, led by the deputy mayor of the capital, Ilie Ceban, paid a working visit to Iasi, Romania, on February 21-22.
The Moldovan official had a meeting with the president of the Iasi County Council, Costel Alexe, who showed his openness to share the experience of Iasi County regarding waste management, as well as expanding collaboration on various areas of common interest between the two municipalities.
The delegation from Chisinau, which also included representatives of Autosalubritate company, they had several discussions regarding waste management with the specialized specialists from Iași County.
In this context, the Romanian side made a presentation to the new stations built for the transhipment and sorting of waste in Iasi.
Ilie Ceban stated that the municipal authorities will study and take over the experience of the Iasi authorities in the field of waste management.
According to the information presented by Autosalubritate, in January, 136.7 thousand m3 of household waste were discharged from the platforms and chambers of waste accumulation in the capital. After the sorting carried out at the transshipment station, about 13 thousand tons of waste were deposited at the municipal landfill in Țânțăreni.
For the separate collection of waste, in the capital were placed 1500 containers of different colors specially arranged and labeled on each fraction: plastic and metal are put in the yellow bin, paper and cardboard in the blue container, glass in the green one, and waste biodegradable in galvanized containers.
