Chisinau, Feb. 23 / MOLDPRES /- Patients will be able to benefit more easily from the compensation of medical devices from the funds of the compulsory health insurance. The government today approved three regulations that will facilitate the outpatient treatment of people registered with the family doctor, the Executive's communication and protocol department has reported.
Thus, the first medical devices that will be compensated are: tests, braces for determining blood sugar; intestinal and urinary stoma collection bags for patients who have undergone bowel resection or bladder removal and who have undergone surgery on the colon; breast augmentation for women after removal of the mammary gland.
Moreover, these regulations represent a new mechanism for the medical system in the Republic of Moldova and aim to increase the population's access to medical devices of major importance, but also to cost-effective medicines.
The new compensation mechanism will have a favorable impact for patients, who will be able to choose, independently, from the variety of products compensated in any pharmacy contracted by the National Medical Insurance Company (CNAM).
The medical devices may be prescribed by the family doctor, and the patient may benefit from the type of medical device desired, at least one device name being fully covered by the compulsory medical insurance.
The implementation of the projects is covered by the funds of the obligatory medical assistance insurance, provided by Law no. 207/2021 of the compulsory health insurance funds for 2022. In the second semester of the current year, starting with April, these medical devices will be available in all pharmacies contracted by the CNAM.
