Chisinau, Feb. 23 / MOLDPRES /- The government has approved new quality and food safety requirements for animal products, especially poultry and commercial eggs. The new changes are aimed at ruling out the risk of marketing dangerous and low-quality foodstuffs, the occurrence of various foodborne diseases and food poisoning, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
The project sets minimum quality standards for the marketing of consumer eggs and their labeling requirements. The maximum water content of frozen or quick-frozen poultry carcases will also be regulated, as well as a control mechanism in both laboratories and at all stages of marketing. At the same time, the draft provides for certain labeling requirements that indicate the method used to cool the meat and how the birds are raised.
Improving the national regulatory framework will ensure food safety and quality. At the same time, in this way, the competitiveness of food of animal origin will be increased and it will be facilitated to obtain their right to export, ensuring quality according to the requirements of the European Union.
