Ship under Moldovan banner hit by shell in Black Sea

Chisinau, 25 February /MOLDPRES/ - The Naval Agency today informed that the ship MILLENIAL SPIRIT under Moldova’s banner had been hit by a shell in neutral waters of the Black Sea.

According to the quoted source, the ship of the type Chemical Tanker, under Moldova’s banner, being in the Black Sea’s neutral waters (46°22.221’N, 031°07.095’E) was hit by a shell (the speed of the shell’s launch is unknown). A fire burst out onboard the ship; the rescue equipment and boats were destroyed, the crew left the ship only with rescue waistcoats.

Actions of rescue by nearby ships are taking place at present. The ship’s crew represents Russian citizens. The ship’s operator is a legal entity of Ukraine.

The Naval Agency noted that it would additionally inform about the process of rescue of the crew and the ship under Moldova’s banner.
