As many as 386 Ukrainians demand asylum in Moldova

Chisinau, 25 February /MOLDPRES/ - More than 20,000 Ukrainian citizens have entered Moldova in the last 24 hours, of whom 386 asked for asylum. Data to this effect was made public after a meeting of the Commission for Emergency Situations (CSE) today.
Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita informed that the cabinet was prepared to provide support to the Ukrainian citizens who had come to Moldova.
„On 24 February, CSE ruled to facilitate the procedures of crossing the border for the citizens of Ukraine. Today, CSE again held a meeting and ruled to extend the list of essential products with such products as bread-making products, sugar, flour and pork and fowl. Also, the CSE members decided to cease the export of wheat and sugar as of 1 March. At the same time, the increase in prices for electric energy was stopped,’’ the PM said.
Gavrilita also noted that the procedures of charging customs duties for the humanitarian assistance would be facilitated on the next period and the medical institutions from all over Moldova will provide emergency medical assistance or against COVID-19 to all refugees.
