103 refugees referred to medical institutions in Moldova in recent days

Chisinau, March 2 / MOLDPRES /- A total of 103 refugees, including 27 minors, have been referred to medical institutions in the Republic of Moldova in recent days. The announcement was made today, in a press conference, by the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Health, Svetlana Nicolaescu.
According to the quoted sister, 40 refugees were hospitalized for medical assistance, including 27 children. The most common cases involved respiratory and gastrointestinal infections but also chronic diseases.
The official also mentioned that in the last six days, 48 refugees have been diagnosed with COVID-19 infection, and two women from Ukraine have given birth at maternity hospitals in the capital.
The official specified that in all the refugee placement centers but also at the border crossing points, teams of medical personnel were deployed to provide assistance to the refugees and to sort out the cases of COVID. Nicolaescu also said that refugees who have not been vaccinated against the new coronavirus can do so in the Republic of Moldova and reiterated that our country has sufficient vaccine stocks. She noted that short-term drug rations for the chronically ill will be offered to refugees in the country and specified that all refugees with oncological or chronic diseases can benefit from treatment in Moldovan hospitals.
