Chisinau, 2 March /MOLDPRES/ - An exhibition of photos has been inaugurated at the headquarters of the parliament, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the unleashing of the armed conflict for the defence of Moldova’s territorial integrity and independence.
The works exhibited were made by photo-journalist Nicolae Pojoga on battlefield in 1992. The exhibition also contains historical documents and books which show the events from that period.
Attending the event, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu highlighted how important was for Moldova to preserve the memory of the deeds of the heroes who had fought in the conflict at Dniester. ‘’Through the today’s event, we tried to re-bring in our memory those tragic moments, when our veterans found courage and answered to the call to defend their motherland, to defend us,’’ the parliament speaker said.
Also today, the parliament speaker handed diplomas to 21 veterans from various Moldovan settlements who had participated in the Transnistria War. At the same time, almost 100 veterans from all districts of Moldova, including the left bank of Dniester, received the diploma of the parliament of the first degree.
On 2 March 1992, the armed conflict for the defence of Moldova’s territorial integrity and independence started. At that time, over 300 people were filled on battlefield and about 370 were injured.
