Moldovan deputy PM for reintegration participates in ceremony on commemoration of people dead in Transnistria War

Chisinau, 2 March /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian today participated in the commemorative events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the unleashing of the war at Dniester. He paid homage to the heroes who defended firmly and with dedication Moldova’s territorial integrity and independence, the presidential press service has reported.
Along with representatives of the local public administration and war veterans, the deputy prime minister stood silent for one minute for those who died while fulfilling their duty on battlefield and laid flowers at the monuments to the heroes from the settlements Molovata Noua and Cocieri, Dubasari district.
In his speech, Oleg Serebrian emphasized the special contribution of those who fought at that time to defend the country’s independence and territorial integrity. He stressed the importance of cultivating the memory about these events for the present and future generations.
On behalf of Moldova’s government, the deputy PM expressed gratitude for the devotion, sacrifice and love for the country, displayed by the war veterans and their fellow soldiers, who died on the battlefield, including on the Cocieri plateau.
At the same time, in the context of the military conflict in Ukraine, the deputy prime minister came up with a message of peace and solidarity:
”The disagreements must be removed through dialogue, not with the force of weapons. Politicians should always be aware of the fact that the lives of millions of innocent people depend on their actions and words.’’
