Switzerland to support humanitarian efforts of Moldova

Chisinau, March 4 / MOLDPRES /- President Maia Sandu spoke on the phone with President of the Swiss Confederation Ignazio Cassis, the presidential press service has reported.

Officials agreed to strengthen the two countries' efforts to manage the humanitarian crisis caused by the war in Ukraine. The head of state mentioned that the citizens of the Republic of Moldova and the authorities mobilized exemplary to manage an increasing flow of refugees with different needs. According to the President, this requires a significant coordination effort, but also important resources, and at this time Moldova needs the immediate support of the international community.

The official expressed solidarity and support of the Swiss Confederation for the humanitarian efforts of the Republic of Moldova, stating that Switzerland will contribute with the necessary support in this regard. During the discussion, counterparts also agreed to step up bilateral cooperation in the fight against corruption.
