Chisinau, March 4 / MOLDPRES /- We will be with the refugees as long as necessary. We are talking to several states about the partial takeover of refugees, the Republic of Moldova has friends and we will continue to help people with what we can. In difficult times we are in solidarity with those in need. The statement was made today during a briefing by the head of state, Maia Sandu.

"The war in Ukraine is creating a tense atmosphere in the region, including in our country. People are scared and nervous - and Moldovan citizens, mentioned in an armed conflict on the border, but especially refugees arriving from the neighboring country, who arrived on the roads fleeing the bombs. In these circumstances, it is important not to generalize isolated incidents involving refugees, but to seek peaceful solutions for them. Let's not share videos and posts that divide us, incite hatred towards refugees and contribute to the tense atmosphere in the country. I urge you to be forgiving, to be patient with one another. And, if necessary, the police will intervene at any time to resolve the misunderstandings that have arisen ", mentioned Sandu.

The President warned that it was unacceptable and irresponsible for incidents involving refugees to be speculated by people in public office, dignitaries and elected officials for political purposes. "Intentional manipulation with tensions between people, in conditions of war on the border of the country, will be penalized. The accumulation of political capital by exploiting the fears of people scared of war is illegitimate and vile ", concluded Sandu.
