Former cinema in Chisinau transformed into refugee placement center

Chisinau, March 7 / MOLDPRES /- Chisinau city hall is setting up a refugee placement center inside a former cinema.
Chisinau mayor Ion Ceban said at today's online meeting of the municipal services that a former cinema in the Rascani neighborhood was arranged in a refugee placement center. "The former Patria cinema in the Rascani sector is arranged to receive 400 Ukrainian refugees. The opening of new placement centers is necessary due to the large influx of refugees into the Republic of Moldova. The vast majority of them are located in Chisinau, "said Ceban.
At the same time, the mayor specified that the arrangements for refugees have been completed at the handball hall, where 300 people will be accommodated and at the Orion cultural center, where 150 people can be accommodated.
Ceban mentioned that since the beginning of the wave of refugees in the Republic of Moldova, 12,889 people have passed through the MoldExpo Sorting Center. According to the official, 90 percent of the pressure caused by the flow of Ukrainian refugees is borne by local public authorities in Chisinau.
