EU launched new environmental program in Moldova

Chisinau, March 10 / MOLDPRES /- EU4Environment - Water Resources and Environmental Data is the program launched yesterday online in the Republic of Moldova. It will continue to support our country in conserving its natural resources in accordance with the European Green Deal and a post-COVID-19 ecological recovery.
It aims to improve the health and well-being of Moldovan citizens, as well as the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The program is part of the Team Europe Water and Zero Pollution Initiative, which aims to move towards an environment free of toxic substances for all citizens.
"We are grateful to the European Union and our partners for their continued efforts to support the Republic of Moldova in achieving its national objectives related to sustainable management and protection of water resources, which are in line with the Sustainable Development Goals. I assure you that our development partners will have the full support of the national institutions for the successful implementation of the Program ", Iuliana Cantaragiu, Minister of Environment said.
The program is part of the European Union's cooperation framework with the Eastern Partnership and has a total budget of € 12.75 million. It will be implemented in the period 2022-2024 by the Consortium of Member States of the European Union / Austrian Environment Agency (UBA), Austrian Development Agency (ADA), International Water Agency of France (OiEau) /, Organization for Cooperation and Economic Development (OECD) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).
