Germany backs Moldova in managing flow of Ukrainian refugees

Chisinau, 12 March /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita and Foreign Affairs Minister of Germany Annalena Baerbock had a trilateral discussion in Chisinau today. The officials referred to the security situation in the region, as well as the management of the social, political and economic effects, triggered by the war in Ukraine, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
In the context, Natalia Gavrilita said the government had mobilized just starting from the unleashing of the war, in order to work out mechanisms of management of the flow of migrants, as well as to provide the protection which they need.
At the same time, the PM voiced confidence that both Germany and other European Union member states would continue backing Moldova in the management of the refugees’ crisis and in the mitigation of the war’s economic consequences. In particular, the prime minister asked for non-refundable budgetary support, in order to maintain the Moldovan residents’ living standards and ensure the energy efficiency and security.
