Supreme Security Council made several recommendations to ensure resilience of agri-food sector

Chisinau, March 14 / MOLDPRES /- The situation created in the economy as a result of the regional crisis, rising commodity prices and the rupture of supply chains due to the war in Ukraine, was discussed on Friday, March 11, at the meeting of the Supreme Security Council, convened by President Maia Sandu, the presidential press service has reported.
CSS members were informed about the current state of affairs in various sectors - agricultural, food, energy - and about the measures of economic and social resilience that are required in the current context. Information was also heard on the preparation of the agri-food sector for the next economic cycle, based on the challenges and risks posed by the global energy crisis and regional uncertainties. Several actions taken to provide food to the country were analyzed.
For a good preparation of the economy for the agricultural season, it was mentioned the importance of providing with fertilizers, fuels, seed material and other necessary raw materials.
CSS recommended to the appropriate institutions:
target farmers' support programs in such a way as to allocate resources and subsidies to businesses and households that are disadvantaged by the current situation;
develop and implement programs to increase the productivity of the agri-food sector throughout the value chain;
to develop mechanisms to ensure, under prudential conditions, the continuity of the flow of financial means in the national economy;
to ensure the development of programs for the promotion of non-bank financial products that contribute to increasing the capacity to mobilize financial resources in the agri-food sector.
