Moldovan parliament speaker, IMF team discuss refugees', energy crises

Chisinau, 14 March /MOLDPRES/ - The management of the refugees’ crisis and of the energy crisis, the assistance needed by Moldova at present have been discussed at a meeting of Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu and the team of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), led by Ruben Atoyan, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
Attending the meeting was the head of the parliament’s juridical commission for appointments and immunities, Olesea Stamate.
In the discussions with the IMF team, the speaker said that the refugees’ crisis was accompanied by other crises, with which Moldova should cope. ‘’Our concern is to be with the citizens,’’ the parliament speaker stressed.
The sides agreed that Moldova needs a resilience plan, in order to be able to respond to numerous crises. Igor Grosu showed confidence that, along with the development partners, solutions would be identified to overcome the crises.
”The parliamentary agenda which we are set to implement and for which we received a strong mandate on behalf of the citizens, will be carried through. In these difficult times, we understand how important is that we have functional institutions,’’ the parliament speaker said.
During one week, the IMF team assessed the impact of the war in Ukraine on Moldova and identified solutions to support the country.
