Moldovan PM has meeting with foreign affairs minister of Italy

Chisinau, 15 March /MOLDPRES/ - The security in the region and the humanitarian, economic and social impact of the war in Ukraine today were discussed at a meeting between Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita and Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister of Italy Luigi di Maio, on an official visit to Moldova, the communication and protocol department has reported.
The two officials voiced hope for an as soon as possible identification of a peaceful solution, which is to lead to the end of the hostilities in Ukraine.
Natalia Gavrilita thanked the Italian authorities for openness to provide support to Moldova, in the context of an unprecedented flow of refugees. At the same time, the PM spoke out for the increase in the external support, taking into account the need to maintain the political and financial stability.
The foreign affairs and international cooperation minister of Italy conveyed congratulations to Moldova’s government for the way it managed the flow of refugees and offered thanks for facilitating the transit of the Italian citizens who came from Ukraine. At the same time, Luigi di Maio reaffirmed Italy’s solidarity with Moldova.
Natalia Gavrilita highlighted Moldova’s European aspirations. ‘’We want to develop in a way due to ensure the convergence with the countries with the countries from the European Union,’’ the prime minister said.
For his part, the Italian minister said that Moldova’s aspiration to become European Union member is ‘’fully legitimate.’’ In this respect, Luigi di Maio referred to the need to fully implement the Association Agreement. ‘’You can rely on our help,’’ the Italian official said.
