Chisinau, 15 March /MOLDPRES/ - Austria, Italy, Denmark and Finland today donated more consignments of humanitarian assistance to Moldova, through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
Attending the event of donations’ reception were Interior Minister Ana Revenco, Head of the European Union’s Delegation in Moldova Jānis Mažeiks and the ambassadors accredited of Austria, Italy and Finland.
„We are here together, as we ruled to help in this terrible crisis, triggered by the war in Ukraine. All of us, from the European area, got involved in the settlement of a challenge, which we have never expected. Our assistance matters a lot, as none of our countries was prepared to cope with such a close and threatening war,’’ Minister Ana Revenco said.
„I express gratitude towards all EU member states for the efforts of backing Moldova and I assure you that EU will continue providing assistance in the next weeks as well. The people from Moldova have proved an outstanding solidarity when we met the refugees from Ukraine with open arms. I thank the authorities of Moldova for self-denial,’’ the head of the European Union Delegation said.
Today, Moldova received humanitarian assistance on behalf of Austria worth 37,000 euros (hygiene parcels, tents, blankets, mattresses, pillows), on behalf of Finland worth 582,000 euros (heating tents, tents for bath, field kitchens), on behalf of Denmark worth 114,000 euros (seven ambulances) and on behalf of Italy, worth 56,000 euros (hygiene, kitchen sets, Diesel generators, water reservoirs, heaters).
