Over 1,600 ha of land destroyed by vegetation fires

Chisinau, March 16 / MOLDPRES /- More than 1,600 hectares of land have been destroyed in the last 24 hours by wildfires.
According to IGSU data, during the last 24 hours the firefighters intervened in 145 missions to eliminate the outbreaks of dry vegetation. The most widespread outbreaks were recorded in the town of Slobozia-Horodiște in Rezina district, where the fire destroyed 60 hectares of dry grass. 100 hectares were destroyed in Edineț, as well as in Floresti district.
IGSU employees intervened to extinguish 60 ha of vegetation in Falesti district, Ilenuța village, 70 ha in the locality, Nicolaevca, Sangerei district and 25 ha of land were compromised by fire in Salcia, Taraclia district. At the same time, in Mihuleni, Soldanesti district, the flames affected an area of 280 ha of land with dry vegetation.
In this context, IGSU warns the population that firebreaks are spreading rapidly over large areas, especially in conditions of low humidity and wind. People are asked not to light household garbage and vegetation, near agricultural, forestry, but also residential areas, in order to prevent fires and their spread.
