Moldovan prosecutors make raid with searches in case on illegal border crossing

Chisinau, 16 March /MOLDPRES/ -Anticorruption prosecutors, the South office, jointly with officers of the Interior Ministry’s (MAI) Internal Protection and Anticorruption Service (SPIA) have made a raid with searches at the home of a resident from the southern Ceadar-Lunga district, who is concerned in a criminal file for influence peddling.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the person regarded is suspected that, during February-March this year, he organized, along with other people, the illegal entrance in Moldova of three men born in Ukraine, from whom they claimed and received 1,400 euros each. This person said that he had influence on employees of the General Inspectorate of Border Police, through whom he might legalize the illegal crossing of the border.
Following the search made at the suspect’s home, prosecutors found and raised documents, objects and other evidence means, which have connection to the case investigated. The man was detained for 72 hours.
