Chisinau, 16 March /MOLDPRES/ - The Labour and Social Protection Ministry has received 55 tons of humanitarian assistance on behalf of Romania.

More trucks of the Romanian General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) today arrived in the Vatra settlement, where the warehouse of humanitarian assistance of the aforementioned ministry is placed. Those 55 tons of strictly needed products and humanitarian products, meant for the Ukrainian refugees settled in Moldova, were deposited there.

According to Labour and Social Protection Minister Marcel Spatari, the consignment of humanitarian assistance will be distributed to those 96 centres of refugees’ temporary placement arranged in Moldova. ‘’This assistance arrives in Chisinau on the same day when Romania’s President Klaus Iohannis and Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca come; this is a sign of the reconstruction of the spiritual and material bridges between the two states,’’  Spatari said.

At the same time, Deputy Parliament Speaker Mihai Popsoi, attending the ceremony, said that ‘’Romania helped Moldova both during the coronavirus pandemic and at present.’’ ‘’We thank both the Romanian authorities and all Romanian tax payers; we give you assurances that this humanitarian assistance will be distributed fairly and correctly,’’ Popsoi noted.

According to Moldova’s Border Police, about 100,000 Ukrainian refugees are presently on the country’s territory. Another 200,000 refugees used Moldova as transit point.
