Pensions to be increased in Moldova starting from 1 April

Chisinau, 16 March /MOLDPRES/ - The pensions will be indexed and increased starting from 1 April. Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita and Labour and Social Protection Minister Marcel Spatari have made statements to this effect at a news conference, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
According to the information unveiled, the coefficient of pensions’ indexation will be 13.94 per cent, proceeding from the inflation rate in late 2021. Besides, all pensions calculated will be increased by a fixed sum of 171.71 lei, through the mechanism of transposing the economic growth in pensions.
Following the implementation of these two mechanisms, of indexation and fixed growth, a pensioner who presently benefits from a pension worth 2,500 lei as of 1 April will receive a pension of 3,020 lei, i.e. by 520 lei more, which is an increase of 20.8 per cent.
Also, the minimal age limit pension is increased by 13.94 per cent, from 2,000 to 2,278 lei for the full retirement contributions.
Estimations show that the budget of the pensions’ system in 2022 will increase up to 21.8 billion lei, by 30 per cent more against the year before and by 59 per cent more against 2019.
