Moldovan president has meeting with Romanian head of state

Chisinau, 17 March /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu on 16 March had a meeting with President of Romania Klaus Iohannis, on a working visit to Chisinau.

According to the presidential press service, the discussions were focused on the security situation in the region and the problem of the refugees who leave Ukraine, fleeing the war. Maia Sandu thanked President Iohannis for the assistance provided by Romania to the people who came to Moldova from Ukraine, as well as for Bucharest’s willingness to provide a green corridor for the admission of these people on the territory of the European Union.

The two heads of state discussed also projects agreed upon at the joint meeting of the Moldovan and Romanian governments from last February, as well as other subjects on the bilateral agenda. President Maia Sandu referred to the fact that Moldova’s citizens already can use roaming services at law tariffs, when they travel to Romania and local infrastructure projects and the construction of a bridge in Ungheni will start soon.

„At the same time, we must advance in the process of interconnection of the electricity networks of our countries. We have a full agenda, which shows a friendly relation, of strategic partnership, between our countries,’’ President Maia Sandu said.
