Moldovan PM has meeting with foreign affairs minister of Spain

Chisinau, 17 March /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita and Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain José Manuel Albares at a meeting have discussed subjects on the management of the flow of refugees and the regional situation, in the context of the war in Ukraine, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The prime minister appreciated the openness of the government of Spain to back Moldova in its humanitarian effort, stressing the importance of the quick involvement of the international community, given that the number of Ukrainian refugees in Moldova is large. The PM noted that, to diminish the economic pressure on Moldova, the country must get access to flexible financing instruments and should have clear-cut mechanisms of refugees’ relocation.
„We are grateful for Spain’s intention to take over a certain number of refugees who are presently in Moldova. We will be able to strengthen our capacity to further help the people only by joint and solid efforts,’’ Natalia Gavrilita said.
For his part, José Manuel Albares reaffirmed the support of Spain and the commitment to be by the side of Moldova, in order to overcome the crisis and for the country’s economic recovery. The two officials discussed also the implementation of joint projects in diverse sectors and the continuation of the Moldovan-Spanish dialogue, for the benefit of both sides and in the interest of the citizens.
