Almost 25,000 refugees arrive in EU from Moldova in last two weeks

Chisinau, 22 March /MOLDPRES/ - The Single Crisis Management Centre informs that, on 8-22 March 2022, almost 25,000 refugees from Ukraine have been helped to reach European Union’s destinations. Refugees are carried by vehicles, trains and planes, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Starting from 8 March till today 12:00, 25 flights were organized with an overall number of 3,321 passengers onboard. People arrived in Israel, Bulgaria, Turkey, Germany and Austria.
On the same period, 451 bus routes were made and 14,914 people were transported. Most of them arrived in Romania.
Another over 6,404 people from Ukraine arrived in Iasi and Bucharest by commercial trains and the special route Causeni-Chisinau-Iasi, organized by the Single Crisis Management Centre.

The citizens who came to Moldova from Ukraine continue going to other destinations also by private cars and Moldova’s citizens help them cross the border with Romania.
Today, 22 March, at 6:00, there were 101,035 refugees in Moldova, of whom 49,033 children. No increased flow of entries in Moldova has been recorded at the points of crossing the border with Ukraine on the last days and the movement is in normal regime.
A number of 4,209 refugees, mostly women and children, are accommodated at those 104 placement centres from Moldova. Another 4,978 places are still available at the centres.
