Moldovan president meets WHO Regional Director for Europe

Chisinau, March 23 / MOLDPRES /- President Maia Sandu had a meeting yesterday with WHO Regional Director for Europe Hans Henri P. Kluge. The discussion focused on the country's response to the humanitarian crisis caused by the war in Ukraine, as well as future cooperation, the presidential press service has reported.

The president said that the country hosts a large number of refugees, and medical care is an integral part of the support they receive. In this context, the WHO official was convinced that Moldova needed urgent help to support and expand its assistance efforts, and to ensure that the health needs of its citizens were met.

Maia Sandu thanked the WHO for help in providing our country with the vaccine against Covid-19 last year, and voiced hope in expanding bilateral cooperation. Priority remains for WHO support for the current needs of the Moldovan health system and for improving access to essential health services, as well as the development of the digital medicine industry.
