Moldovan, European officials broach cooperation

Chisinau, 23 March /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu had a meeting with Ilva Johansson, European Commissioner for Home Affairs in Brussels. The officials broached Moldova's cooperation with EU under management of flow of refugees from Ukraine, the MAEIE press service has reported.
"We welcome the recent signing of the Agreement with the EU on the operational activities of the European Border Police and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex) in our country. The new legal framework allows for closer cooperation between Frontex and the General Inspectorate of Border Police within the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as the possibility to deploy Frontex officers to strengthen border management capabilities, "said Popescu.
They also pointed out the importance of cooperating with Europol to monitor the situation in the field of trafficking in human beings in the context of the humanitarian crisis in the neighboring country.
