New local elections may take place during state of emergency

Chisinau, March 24 / MOLDPRES /- During the state of emergency, it will be possible to hold new local elections in some territorial administrative units. A decision in this regard was approved today by the Legislature.
Thus, the Parliament Decision No41/2022 on declaring a state of emergency was supplemented by an article, which states that "this state of emergency does not affect the organization and conduct of new local elections in the spring of 2022 in some territorial administrative units."
As a result, elections for the position of mayor or for a new composition of the communal council are to be held in 12 localities of the country.
