Moldovan MPs made amendments to Civil Procedure Code

Chisinau, March 24 / MOLDPRES /- The article stipulating the obligation of judicial mediation could be excluded from the Civil Procedure Code of the Republic of Moldova. A draft that provides for this was approved today in the first reading by the Legislature.

The aim of the project is to fully ensure the right to free access to justice, to exclude rigid and inefficient procedural barriers and to significantly reduce the length of time for the examination and settlement of civil disputes.

According to the data presented by the Ministry of Justice, in the period 2018 - 2021, over 43,500 judicial mediation trials were registered. Of these, only 2.5 percent were completed with a settlement. At the same time, the judicial mediation processes have a duration of up to nine months, while the maximum term of examination is 45 days.
