Moldovan government spends 235.1 million lei to support refugees

Chisinau, 24 March /MOLDPRES/ - The central authorities from Moldova have spent 235.1 million lei for backing the refugees from Ukraine; about 200 million lei come from the state budget and another 35.1 million lei represent donations by private people and legal entities.
At a today’s news conference, Finance Minister Dumitru Budianschi informed that the central authorities had spent 200 million lei from the state budget to back the Ukrainian refugees and another 35.1 million lei represent donations by private people and legal entities.
Budianschi said the Finance Ministry had opened an account for collecting financial means meant for helping the refugees from Ukraine, in which 46.8 million lei had been already collected. Financial resources both on behalf of private people and legal entities or international institutions were accumulated in this single account. As much as 19.2 million lei was donated by private people and legal entities from Moldova,’’ Budianschi noted.
The official said that 35.1 million lei had been spent out of the overall sum accumulated in this single account. ‘’We allocated 31.3 million lei from this special account for the maintenance of those 45 present placement centres, and 3.8 million lei – for supply with food products,’’ Budianschi specified.
For his part, at the same conference, the government’s secretary general, Dumitru Udrea, said that assistance worth 6.6 million euros, meant for assisting the refugees from Ukraine, had also arrived in Moldova within the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. According to the official, it is about equipment and installations, tents, blankets, bedclothes, as well as eight ambulances. ‘’This assistance also includes the energy package provided by the Romanian state through the donation of 5,000 tons of crude oil and 130 tons of diesel and 131 tons of petrol,’’ Dumitru Udrea said.
