Chisinau, March 25 / MOLDPRES /- The price of several essential medicines, frequently used by the citizens of the Republic of Moldova will be reduced by up to 50%. The announcement was made by the Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices (AMDM), following the procedure of re-examining the prices of the last three months for approximately 1,143 medicines.
AMDM head Dragoș Guțu said that the approval of the new prices is due to a strict mechanism for controlling the prices of medicines that does not allow unjustified increases. “Specifically, the price of each drug is evaluated and approved by the AMDM, once a year. The basic principle of this procedure is to compare the price of the drug with the price in the reference countries ", said Guțu.
In the last six months, the institution has managed to revise the prices of more than half of the medicines registered in the Republic of Moldova. Also during this period, AMDM made an effort to detect deviations from the legal calculation formula and remove them.
Following the examination of the approved price list in the last three months, there is a decrease in prices of up to 51% for 500 of the 1143 drugs evaluated. The category of medicines with reduced prices includes essential pharmaceuticals, fully / partially compensated, being widely used by patients.
AMDM states that the impact of lower prices on medicines assessed in the last three months will be felt gradually, as stocks of medicines with previous prices will be depleted in about three months.
